BOTRIS LATE HARVEST

SWEET

NEW EDITION: 2019

BOTRIS is a very successful cuvée. It was produced mainly for top restaurants, based on demands of foreign partners. More than one wine from TOKAJ MACIK WINERY has appeared on a winelist of prestigious restaurants in Western Europe. Many of those restaurants have been awarded by Michelin stars.

The name of the wine was derived from the name of the noble rot Botrytis Cinerea Persoon. The grapes have a high sugar content due to the mould, which forms raisins called cibebas. The name of the mold was the inspiration for this unique wine.

The base of the wine is Furmint and Lipovina Selection. It is a cuvée - a blend of musts that have fermented together in a 50:50 ratio. Blending of two different varietals gave us a beautifully balanced wine. BOTRIS is a harmony of sugars, acids, minerality and freshness.

This wine has an opalescent metallic golden colour. The nose reminds the aroma of honey. It is full of the aroma of dandelion honey, yellow meadow flowers and pollen. The palate is honey-round, the body medium-bodied with a harmonious expression of natural residual sugar and a lighter, citrus-evocative aftertaste.

A reductive representative of Tokaj sweet wines.
